Walk into your green card interview ready, together
399 marriage interview questions in 14 categories, from how you met to Stokes-style detail questions, each with tips on how to answer. Practice out loud, run full mock interviews, and make sure you and your spouse describe your life the same way.
Practice by section
Officers ask about your story, your home and your daily life, and go over your forms. Study one category at a time, or run a full mock interview of 35 questions drawn from every category.
How you met 30 questions
Officers usually start with your story because a real couple can tell it naturally, and both versions should line up on the basics: where, when, who introduced you, and what happened next.
Dating and engagement 30 questions
The months between meeting and marrying show how the relationship grew. Officers look for a believable progression: dating, meeting families, deciding to marry.
The wedding 30 questions
Your wedding is a single, shared event with concrete details: date, place, guests, food. Officers can check these against your marriage certificate and photos.
Daily routine 35 questions
People who live together know each other's ordinary days. Routine questions are easy for real couples and hard to fake, so officers use them often, especially in separate interviews.
Your home 35 questions
If you live together, you both know the home. Layout and object questions are classic separate-interview material because the answers are simple facts.
Each other's family 30 questions
Married people generally know their in-laws: names, where they live, how often you talk. Officers also compare this with the family information on your forms (Form I-130A asks about parents).
Work and finances 30 questions
Shared finances are one of the strongest signs of a real marriage, and the official form instructions list joint accounts, joint taxes, insurance and shared bills as evidence. Expect questions that check your documents against your daily life.
Past relationships and children 20 questions
Prior marriages must have legally ended before this one, and the forms ask about them. Children, custody and child support are concrete facts officers can check.
Future plans 15 questions
Couples who plan a life together talk about the future. Officers ask to see whether you have shared plans and whether your answers point in the same direction.
Holidays, habits and preferences 30 questions
Favorites, habits and how you spend holidays are the texture of a shared life. They're quick questions officers use to see how well you know each other.
Stokes-style detail questions 40 questions
When an officer has doubts, spouses may be questioned separately and their answers compared, sometimes on very small details. These questions mirror that style: quick, specific, about your recent days and your home.
Your forms and immigration history 24 questions
Every interview includes a review of your application. The officer confirms your answers under oath, asks about anything that has changed, and goes through the eligibility (yes/no) questions.
Removal of conditions (I-751) 25 questions
If your green card is a 2-year conditional card, the I-751 asks whether the marriage was entered in good faith, with evidence from the whole period since. If USCIS schedules an interview, expect questions about the last two years.
Consular and K-1 interviews 25 questions
At a U.S. embassy or consulate, usually only the immigrant spouse or fiancé(e) is interviewed. The consular officer asks about the petitioner and the relationship, so the person abroad has to know the U.S. side well.
Couple Check
Each of you answers the same questions privately on one device. Then see both answers side by side, with every likely mismatch highlighted to talk through.

About the Green Card Interview
Will this tell us what to say?
No, and nothing should. Every answer at the interview is under oath. The practice helps you remember and organize your real shared life, and Couple Check shows where the two of you describe the same facts differently, so nothing catches you off guard.
Which interviews does it cover?
The I-130/I-485 adjustment of status interview at a USCIS office, separate (Stokes) interviews, I-751 removal of conditions interviews, consular spouse visa interviews (IR1/CR1) and K-1 fiancé(e) visa interviews.
How does a mock interview work?
You see one question at a time, as an officer would ask it. Answer out loud, then rate yourself Confident or Needs practice. A full mock interview mixes 35 questions from every category, and at the end you get the list of questions to practice again. In Study mode you see tips on how to answer after each question.
How does Couple Check work?
Pick a set of questions. Partner 1 answers privately and hands the device over. Partner 2 answers the same questions without seeing the first answers. Then you see both answers side by side, with likely mismatches highlighted, so you can talk them through.
Where are the evidence lists from?
From the official USCIS form instructions (I-130, I-485, I-751, I-864), the USCIS Policy Manual and travel.state.gov, checked in October 2026. Each checklist item shows its source. Your own interview notice and embassy instructions always come first. The interview-day list is free to use.
Is what we type sent anywhere?
Your Couple Check answers and your checklist stay in your own browser on your device; nothing you type into them is sent to our servers. Your mock interview results (which questions you marked Confident or Needs practice) are saved to your account so you can pick up on another device.
How much does it cost?
The first 7 days are free. After that it's $29 a month until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime from your account page. One subscription covers you both: open your access link on your spouse's phone too.
Do we still need a lawyer?
Many couples with simple cases go to the interview without one. If either of you has any arrest or criminal history, a past overstay, unlawful entry, prior removal, a previous spousal petition, or you've been called for a second interview, talk to an immigration attorney.
